Manthey EMA on mission title defence in the 2024 DTM with Güven and Preining

  • Manthey EMA to contest the 2024 DTM with two Porsche 911 GT3 R
  • Ayhancan Güven and last year's DTM Drivers' Champion Thomas Preining will pilot car numbers #90 and #91
  • Team aims to defend all championship titles in 2024

Meuspath. After winning last year's DTM title, Manthey EMA will also compete in the sprint series in 2024. Porsche drivers Ayhancan Güven (Turkey) and Thomas Preining (Austria) will be behind the wheel of the two Porsche 911 GT3 R numbers 90 and 91. While DTM driver champion Preining has already competed for the team in the 2023 season, this is Güven's first outing with Manthey EMA. After the debut season, which was crowned by wins in both the drivers' and the manufacturers' championships, defending the titles in all classes is on the agenda for 2024.

"The 2023 DTM season couldn't have gone better for us, and we were able to finish it as DTM champions. We are now the hunted in the coming season, and I hope that we can successfully defend our titles. Our entire team is motivated and perfectly prepared to achieve this goal. In addition to Thomas Preining, Ayhancan Güven is another driver with DTM experience, and we are looking forward to an exciting DTM season in 2024. We would also like to take this opportunity to thank Dennis Olsen once again for again for his commitment in the 2023 season and wish him every success in his new challenges," commented Nicolas Raeder, Managing Director of Manthey Racing GmbH.

Ayhancan Güven and Thomas Preining both have previous experience in the renowned series. Preining is contesting his third DTM series, his team-mate Güven his second. With eight podium finishes, including three wins, and points in every race, the Austrian can look back on a successful 2023 season. Turkish-born Güven stood on the podium alongside his future team-mate at the Sachsenring and scored points in eight races. The former 2019 Porsche Junior made his debut for Manthey EMA at the Bathurst 12 Hour 2024, while Porsche works driver Preining has contested the 24 Hours of Nürburgring and the 12 Hours of Bathurst for the team in the past as well as the DTM.

Manthey EMA made a successful debut in the DTM last year, winning the team and drivers' championships with Porsche. The Meuspath-based team recorded three race wins, seven other podium finishes and no races out of the points. The team crowned the 2023 season with a double podium and victory in both races at the Hockenheim finale.

The partnership between Manthey and EMA Motorsport enters its second year in 2024. After competing in the DTM, the Nürburgring 24 Hours, the Nürburgring Endurance Series and the Bathurst 12 Hours, the two teams will further expand their collaboration this year. In addition to their existing DTM involvement, the partnership between the Melbourne-based team and Manthey will also include participation in the FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC). Most recently, Manthey EMA celebrated two maiden wins on Australian soil at the Bathurst 12 Hour: With two Porsche 911 GT3 R, the team claimed both the Overall and the Pro-AM title for the first time on the Mount Panorama circuit.

The DTM season opener will take place at the Motorsport Arena Oschersleben on 26-28 April 2024.

Driver quotes on the 2024 DTM season:

Ayhancan Güven, Porsche 911 GT3 R #90:
"I'm really looking forward to this project and the opportunities it presents. It's fantastic for a driver to become part of the reigning championship team. And for me as a Porsche driver who started in the Sports Cup in 2016, it has a special meaning yet again. To go through all these stages and end up in the Grello in the DTM is a dream come true. I've had the opportunity to work with some of the Manthey team in previous years. I'm looking forward to the season together and would like to thank Porsche Motorsport and Manthey for this opportunity and the trust they have placed in me."

Thomas Preining, Porsche 911 GT3 R #91:
"I'm very happy to be back in the DTM in 2024 with Manthey EMA and to be able to start defending the title. Of course, that's easier said than done as we have another long and demanding season ahead of us. But I'm really looking forward to it. I can see how motivated and hungry for success everyone in the team still is. That can't be taken for granted and I appreciate it. I am confident that we will have a great 2024 season. I would also like to thank Porsche for their support and for respecting my wish to return to the DTM together with Manthey EMA."
