The Porsche Endurance Trophy Nürburgring enters its second season with additional support

Meuspath. For the first time the Porsche Endurance Trophy Nürburgring will have a PETN-Driver-Consultant this year. This task will be taken over by former Porsche works driver Marco Holzer. Holzer will serve as a contact person for the teams and drivers to support them in topics such as vehicle set-up, data analysis and driver coaching. The 34-year-old has many years of experience in international motorsport and has proven his skills in endurance racing several times - as a Porsche Junior he won the 24h Dubai in 2010 and finished third in the GT2 class at the 24h Le Mans in the same year. In his first year as a Porsche worksdriver, he also won the first race of the Porsche 911 GT3 R Hybrid in the VLN at the Nürburgring in 2011. In addition, he has competed several times in the American IMSA in recent years and was able to win the prestigious Petit Le Mans race there in 2014, among others.

"Through my work in developing the Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 CS (982) and the Porsche 911 GT3 Cup (992), which are competing in the PETN, I have gained a lot of experience and knowledge with both vehicles. Passing this on to the teams and supporting them during the season is a new task for me that I'm really looking forward to", says Marco Holzer PETN-Driver-Consultant.

Holzer was supporting for the first time last weekend at the test and set-up days at the Nürburgring one week before the start of the season. From 10th to 12th March, the teams of the Porsche Endurance Trophy Nürburgring had the opportunity to collect their first kilometres on the Nordschleife for this year. In rainy conditions on Friday, the teams were able to test for five and a half hours on the short layout of the Nürburgring GP circuit. However, due to the weather conditions, the test day on Saturday was cancelled. On Sunday, the teams were able to drive again with reduced driving time on the combination of GP circuit and Nordschleife, which is identical to the track layout of the NLS races.

"Despite the weather conditions, we are happy that some teams were able to take advantage of the weekend's testing opportunities to make their final preparations for the season. This year, many familiar faces, but also several new ones, are taking part in the PETN. In order to offer the teams even more support, we have engaged Marco Holzer as a driver consultant for this season. We are delighted to welcome Marco to the PETN team and look forward to a successful season together," says Julia Klee, Project Manager Porsche Endurance Trophy Nürburgring.

As a Porsche one-make series, the PETN has the opportunity to allocate five new Porsche 911 GT3 Cup of the latest generation to the teams this year. Two customer racecars went to teams that will be competing in the PETN for a full season for the first time this year: Fugel Sport and Max Kruse Racing. The other three new cars will be entered by pb performance, Sorg Rennsport and Team Black Falcon.

As usual, the Porsche Endurance Trophy Nürburgring will be held as part of the Nürburgring Endurance Series (NLS). In Cup 2 class, the Porsche 911 GT3 Cup (992) is eligible to start with a special PETN package. This includes ABS and traction control as well as aerodynamic adjustments for the Nordschleife. The Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 CS (982) will compete in Cup 3 class. The vehicle can be entered in both Permit A and Permit B configurations. The 981 generation Cayman GT4 Clubsport is also eligible to compete in Permit A and B configurations. PETN participants also have the opportunity to compete in the ADAC TotalEnergies 24h Nürburgring and the associated qualifying race. Both events are considered as single events and do not count towards the annual ranking of the one-make series. In the PETN, points will be awarded in the team and driver classifications for both classes as well as in the AM driver classifications, analogous to last season. PETN Overall Champions will be the driver pairing with the highest number of points across both classes.

The second season as a Porsche one-make series starts next weekend with the first round of the Nürburgring Endurance Series, the 68th ADAC Westfalenfahrt.
