Manthey EMA competes in the 12-hour race at Bathurst

Meuspath. Manthey and EMA Motorsport will enter a 991.2 generation Porsche 911 GT3 R in the LIQUI MOLY Bathurst 12 Hours, Australia. The two teams are thus intensifying their cooperation and will start under the joint team name "Manthey EMA" for the first time. The 911 will start in the eye-catching green and yellow Grello design at the opening race of the Intercontinental GT Challenge.

EMA Motorsport celebrated its European debut at this year's 24-hour race in Spa and most recently contested the eighth round of the Nürburgring Endurance Series with the support of Manthey. The two companies are now expanding their collaboration and will jointly field a Porsche 911 GT3 R in the Pro class at the spectacular Mount Panorama Circuit. The driver lineup will be announced at a later date.

Traditionally, the demanding 12-hour event (February 3 to 5, 2023) marks the start of the most important international championship for GT3 sports cars. The Meuspath-based racing team already competed on the traditional 6.213-kilometer circuit in the state of New South Wales in 2018 and saw the checkered flag in sixth position. For the Australian team EMA Motorsport, it is the debut with the GT3 R on the Mount Panorama Circuit.

Typical of Bathurst is not only the early start to the race but also the unusual mix of 23 fast and slow corners, with which the scenic mountain-and-valley track in the foothills of the Blue Mountains places the highest demands on the drivers.

"The season opener of the Intercontinental GT Challenge in Bathurst is a special highlight in the racing calendar, and we are looking forward to starting our motorsport year 2023 with this event together with EMA. With its hilly sections, the Mount Panorama Circuit is reminiscent of the Nordschleife and places very high demands on both the vehicle and the drivers. This is exactly where we're experienced from our stints in the Green Hell. And we clearly want to compete for victory in Australia," says Nicolas Raeder, Managing Director of Manthey Racing GmbH.

The latest-generation Porsche 911 GT3 R (992) is not yet eligible to compete in the opening race of the Intercontinental GT Challenge. Thus, Team Manthey EMA will start the Bathurst 12 Hours with the 991.2 generation of the 911.
